B'akaal (Maya: "place of the bone") was a Mayan province that encompassed part of the present-day states of Chiapas and Tabasco, in Mexico, in the Late Classic Period (600-900 CE), whose most important cities were Lakan Ha (Palenque) and Tortuguero. At some point the province of B'akaal also extended west of Tabasco, encompassing the important Mayan city of Joy Chan (Comalcalco).
